About the International Chinese Language Advanced Studies Scholarship
- Established by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC).
- Designed to support outstanding students who are passionate about the Chinese language or culture, offering them a unique opportunity to advance their studies and gain an immersive learning experience in China.
- Students who are considering a career as Chinese language teachers, or those who already hold an education-related degree, are preferred.
Successful applicants will have the chance to study International Chinese Language Education and related fields at top universities in China (hereinafter referred to as Host Institutions) through short-term programs, degree programs, or non-degree study programs, all while experiencing China’s vibrant culture firsthand.
A.Scholarship for One-Year Study Program
The program commences in September, and the scholarship is provided for a maximum of 11 months.
International Chinese language education programs:
a minimum score of 270 on the HSK test (Level 3), and an HSKK test score are required.
Chinese language and literature programs:
a minimum score of 180 on the HSK test (Level 4) and 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level) are required.
Chinese language study programs:
a minimum score of 210 on the HSK test (Level 3) is required, and priority will be given to applicants who provide an HSKK test score.
B.Scholarship for One-Semester Study Program
The program commences either in September or March, and the scholarship is provided for a maximum of 5 months.
International Chinese language education and Chinese language and literature programs:
a minimum score of 180 on the HSK test (Level 3), and an HSKK test score are required.

Your Application Checklist
Generally, applicants must fill in and provide the following documents truly, correctly and completely:
- Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (in Chinese or English)
- Notarized highest diploma
- Academic transcripts
- A study plan or research proposal
- Recommendation letters
- Applicants for music studies are requested to submit a CD of the applicants’ own works. Applicants for the fine arts programs must submit a CD of the applicants’ own works (including two sketches, two color paintings and two other works)
- Applicants under the age of 18 should submit the valid documents of their legal guardians in China.
- Applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months must submit a photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form ( valid for 6 months).
- Applicants with the Pre-admission Letter/Admission Letter from designated universities should enclose the letter in the application package.
- Applicants with valid HSK Certificate should enclose the photocopy of it in the application package.
